Otium Restaurant in Downtown LA

Otium, designed by Studio UNTLD and House of Honey with building architect Osvaldo Maiozzi, is a free-standing, boxy, steel-and-wood-clad structure with midcentury accents.  It’s located in Downtown’s Bunker Hill next to the Broad Museum, and about a block and a half south of Disney Concert Hall.  The designers were tasked to compliment prolific chef Tim Hollingsworth’s vision for a “sophisticated rusticity.” The design is noted as an artful mix of old and new, honest, and refined, that echoes the menu’s offerings. Nearly every part of the restaurant was built and crafted by local artisans: woodwork, furniture, ceramic tiles, etc. It is designed to be a social restaurant with an open kitchen merging indoor and outdoor spaces.
